CDC's new director of Injury Prevention

The CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) has announced Judy Schaechter, MD, MBA, as the new director of its Division of Violence Prevention. Dr. Schaechter, with over 25 years of experience in pediatrics and injury prevention, has an impressive background in public health, policy development, and coalition-building. Formerly President and CEO of the American Board of Pediatrics, she has led initiatives on mental health and workforce belonging, served as a Health Policy Fellow with the U.S. Senate, and was Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Miami. She is a seasoned public health educator and has led efforts to reduce injury rates through programs like the Injury Free Coalition for Kids in Miami-Dade. Dr. Schaechter’s expertise promises to further the division’s impact on injury and violence prevention.
