The Society for the Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR) is thrilled to announce that Jessie Singer, acclaimed journalist and author, will be the keynote speaker at the 2025 conference. Jessie Singer is renowned for their investigative work and thought-provoking writing, making them an ideal choice to inspire and engage our audience.
Jessie Singer is the author of the critically acclaimed book, There Are No Accidents: The Deadly Rise of Injury and Disaster – Who Profits and Who Pays the Price, which has been recognized as a best book of the year by Slate, Fortune Magazine, Mother Jones, and The Economist. Their insightful analysis and compelling storytelling have significantly contributed to the discourse on injury prevention and public safety.
Singer’s work has been featured in prestigious publications such as The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Nation, Bloomberg News, New York Magazine, and The Guardian. Their extensive experience and dedication to uncovering the truth have earned them a reputation as a leading voice in journalism.
Jessie studied journalism at the Arthur L. Carter School of Journalism at New York University, where they were mentored by the late investigative journalist Wayne Barrett.
