SAVIR is welcoming four new members to the organization’s board of directors.
Julie Bromberg (conference host site representative)- Julie Bromberg is a research program manager at the Injury Prevention Center and a research associate in the department of emergency medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Bromberg holds a master’s degree in public health as well as certification as a clinical research professional. She has 20 years of experience in injury prevention research, with expertise in grant writing, community-based research and clinical research studies.
Elizabeth O’Neal (member at large) – Dr. O’Neal is an Assistant Professor in the department of Community and Behavioral Health at the University of Iowa. Dr. Elizabeth O’Neal’s primary research interest focuses on designing, testing, and implementing evidence-based, behavioral approaches that aim to mitigate injury risk in typically and atypically developing children and adolescents.
Carol Shirley (student representative)- Carol Shirley is a DrPH candidate at Tulane University (expected completion Fall 2026) and serves as co-chair of the Connection, Outreach and Engagement Committee for SAVIR. She currently works as the Public Health Communications Specialist at the University of North Carolina Injury Prevention Research Center. She has over 15 years’ experience in marketing and communication in higher education and has won Telly and Hermes creative awards for her previous work at UNC Chapel Hill. Ms. Shirley is currently working as a research assistant with the NC Department of Public Safety’s Office of Violence Prevention on operationalizing the strategic plan they released in late 2024.
Lindsay Sullivan (member at large) – Dr. Lindsay Sullivan is currently an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Division of Health Sciences, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences within the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University (Ohio State). She is also an Affiliate Faculty member at the Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) and a Certified Health Education Specialist®. She received her PhD in Health Promotion from the University of Galway (Ireland) and completed her Postdoctoral training at CIRP at NCH. Dr. Sullivan is committed to promoting the health of children and adolescents through rigorous, interdisciplinary research and the translation of research into policy and practice. Her research interests broadly include child and adolescent health promotion and implementation and evaluation research, with a specific focus on childhood injury prevention and control, mental health promotion, and the development of interventions that reduce the incidence and impact of injuries on children and adolescents.
The President Elect of the board is Shabbar Ranapurwala of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
