2025 Research RFP from The Fund for a Safer Future
The Fund for a Safer Future, a fiscally sponsored project of Global Impact, is pleased to release its 2025 request for proposals (RFP) to support gun violence prevention research. This competitive funding round will deploy at least $2 million for rigorous studies that help answer one core question: What works to prevent firearm-related death, injury, harm, or trauma, and to promote healing? The deadline to submit a letter of intent (LOI) for this RFP is 11:59 pm ET on June 20, 2025.
Who is eligible
Universities, researchers, and nonprofit organizations (including community-based groups, think tanks, direct-service providers, etc.) are eligible. Current Fund for a Safer Future principal investigators (PIs) are not eligible to apply as PIs in this round. This year, at least $400,000 of the funds will be committed explicitly to Early Career Researchers, as defined by the National Institutes of Health.
How to apply
Applicants should submit a brief (up to 4 pages, including a one-page budget) LOI to the Fund for a Safer Future via their online portal, Zengine, no later than 11:59 pm ET on June 20, 2025, outlining the proposed project. Applicants will receive a response to their LOIs by August 1, 2025. Invited full proposals will be due no later than September 19, 2025, and grant decisions are expected to be announced in mid-December 2025.
