SAVIR Announces 2025 Safe Kids Worldwide–SAVIR Injury Prevention Scholarship Winner

SAVIR is delighted to announce that the 2025 Safe Kids Worldwide–SAVIR Injury Prevention Scholarship has been awarded to Amir Ghanbari, MS, a PhD Candidate in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Iowa College of Public Health.
Amir’s research focuses on preventing road traffic injuries, especially among vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians. His work examines behavioral, environmental, and crash-related risk factors, along with long-term health outcomes, to inform interventions and policies that improve road safety.
“The possibility of translating research findings into real-world prevention strategies keeps me inspired,” Amir shared. “Knowing that my work can contribute to reducing injuries and saving lives motivates me each day.”
Research Focus: Bicycling Safety
Amir’s dissertation, Bicycling Safety: Assessing Hospitalization Burden, Risk Factors, and Urban-Rural Disparities, aims to shed light on critical factors influencing cycling safety and inform targeted prevention efforts.
