Get Involved in National Injury Prevention Day Year of Action
SAVIR is pleased to partner on the National Injury Prevention Day Year of Action, to elevate the conversation around injury prevention. As we move into Q3 of the Year of Action, we turn outward. Quarter 3 is about bringing new people into the injury prevention conversation — and intentionally amplifying the work already happening around you.
Expanding the reach of injury prevention doesn’t have to mean doing more. It can mean helping others find the spotlight — tagging a colleague, resharing a story, or introducing a policymaker to the impact of your work. As our field faces shrinking resources, expanding our circle and lifting each other up is one of the most powerful actions we can take.
Expand your circle
Think beyond your usual partners. Invite someone from housing, education, aging, or behavioral health to collaborate on a project, join an event, or co-sponsor a message. These crossover connections often uncover shared goals — and new audiences.
Consider inviting a younger colleague or emerging professional to speak, present, or co-author something with you. Investing in the next generation of advocates is one of the most lasting contributions we can make..
Make the work visible
This quarter, consider posting a spotlight on a partner or colleague doing great injury prevention work — a photo, a quote, a story about their impact. Tag them to help their work reach new audiences, and invite your network to do the same in the comments.
Try sharing a reflection: “What I wish more people knew about injury prevention…” This simple prompt opens meaningful dialogue and often resonates far beyond your immediate network.
And when you come across a powerful article, post, or story from another organization, reshare it — with a short note about why it matters to you. Amplifying others is an act of solidarity and resilience.
Advocate
Invite a local, state, or federal lawmaker to visit your site and see your work firsthand. There’s no more effective advocacy than showing decision-makers the real-world impact of your programs.
Take time this quarter to prepare a short, clear explanation of how your funding is used — and what’s at risk if it disappears. Having that story ready will serve you all year long.
