SAVIR Members In Action
March was a busy month for our IVP science community. On March 13th, the ICRCs participated in a Congressional Briefing At the Nexus of Mental Health and Injury Prevention: Research, Partnership, and Practice to Save Lives and Prevent Serious Injuries to discuss the critical work these teams do across the country to address suicide prevention in the National Guard, mental health access in rural communities, and community-based overdose prevention. Presentations included work from the University of Michigan, University of Iowa, University of North Carolina, and Johns Hopkins University Injury Centers. In addition to presenting centers, University of Pennsylvania and Medical College of Wisconsin attended the event and visited lawmakers to educate them on the lifesaving IVP work our ICRCs do in our communities and for our country.
SAVIR members returned to Washington, D.C. on March 19th for the spring Injury and Violence Prevention Newtwork meeting to meet with national IVP partners and discuss the state of IVP practice and research. On March 20th, more than 100 Congressional visits were made by many of ourmembers, ICRCs, and Executive Director, Christen Rexing with an amazing group of graduate students from Pennsylvania.

In light of the most recent announcement to job and program cuts within the Department of Health and Human Services, we encourage you to reach out to your lawmaker and tell them about the critical work you do and how it will be impacted by these changes.
