The Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR) 2026 Conference will take place from April 13-15, 2026 at the Omni Providence Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island. The 2026 conference centers on the theme “Anchoring the Community of Injury Science.” It will gather hundreds of researchers, public health professionals, and thought leaders dedicated to injury and violence prevention.

The Call for Submissions Portal is open from September 2 – October 10, 2025

Submission options for the 2026 annual conference include:

  • Individual Scientific Abstracts (for poster, oral or roundtable presentations) – These submissions will be considered for oral presentations, poster presentations, and roundtable discussions. Authors may indicate their preferred presentation format(s) at the time of submission. Individual abstract submissions are limited to 300 words and must include the following topic headings: Statement of Purpose; Methods/Approach; Results; Conclusions; and Significance/Contribution.
  • Scientific Symposia – These 75-minute sessions include 4-5 presentations each on a shared violence or injury prevention topic, with the goal of presenting that topic in greater depth and stimulating more focused discussion. Symposia are organized and submitted as a group/collection by a symposia session chair. Submissionsrelevant to all areas of violence and injury prevention are encouraged and must include the symposia session title and an integrative statement (500 words maximum) summarizing the full symposia session.
  • Technical Workshops – Interactive, skill-building sessions on methods or other technical skills relevant to the advancement of violence and injury prevention research. Though SAVIR welcomes submissions on any relevant topic, workshops that address the use of AI, professional development for student and early-career scholars, the role of technology in violence and injury prevention research or practice, legislative advocacy, and effective public engagement and communication are especially encouraged. Submissions must include the workshop title, a description of the workshop content, including why it is important and timely for presentation (500 words maximum), and at least 3 learning objectives.

Individuals can submit through our conference portal from Sept 2 – Oct 10. Registration and sponsor/exhibitor opportunities for the conference are currently open.
