What are your injury and violence prevention research interests?
Drowning prevention / why it’s a wicked public health problem requiring transformational change at all levels of the SEM; road safety and child safety in general; re: road safety, specially as it connections to drowning prevention; being cross-sectoral & interdisciplinary in injury prevention; systems thinking in injury prevention e.g. injuries are NOT accidents
What is something you enjoy about participating in a SAVIR committee as a student?
Connecting/networking with other injury prevention professionals & looking for the cross-sectoral & interdisciplinary connections between our work to raise the profile of injury prevention in public health
What motivates you every day?
Child safety; my children; wanting to find a way to make impact to save children’s lives in the U.S. and abroad; behavior change topics, since at the end of the day, much of the intervention is around behavior change
What do you like to do in your free time?
Swim, play water polo, scuba dive, go on walks/hikes with my family, read and writing articles or op eds about systems thinking injury prevention subjects, coach swimming, eating yummy food, travelling
